Welcoming in 2020 on a high Mira Vista Aviation has been approved and awarded with the honor of the ISBAO (International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations) Stage III seal with the Mira Vista name now listed on the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) registry of IS-BAO registered operators.
The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations, IS-BAO, is a code of best practices that serves as the highest standard for business aviation worldwide. It was developed by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) in 2002 and has been endorsed by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) since its founding. The rating system includes three stages in total.
Stage 1: Indicates that an appropriate Safety Management System (SMS) has been established.
Stage 2: Ensures that safety risks are being effectively managed.
Stage 3: Awarded only when safety management has become a thoroughly ingrained part of the company's culture, and a positive culture of safety management has been sustained over time.
The ISBAO Stage III is the most advanced level offered by IS-BAO. This honor is bestowed upon aviation companies that have proven the "safety first," attitude is engrained within the operator's culture, and the company can sustain that safety culture over time. The continued support to build Mira Vista's safety culture and nurture the high expectations needed to meet that of Stage III is made possible by the hard work of each employee on an individual level.
To attain Stage III, another culture was built alongside the preexisting safety standards. An attitude of acceptance that enabled the Mira Vista team to review risks so the entirety of the company could learn, enhance procedures, and improve policies. Improving and maintaining safety standards truly became a group effort. In part, this is thanks to Mira Vista being a boutique company capable of quick preemptive and experienced decision making.
Of the thousands of aircraft management and charter companies around the globe, Mira Vista Aviation is one of only 11 operators in California that meet the requirements to be awarded Stage III of the 700 companies IS-BAO reviews across all three stages. Stage III requires operators to open their doors and have the third party, International Business Aviation Council, review its processes. Even for the most safety-centric operators, this often can be quite humbling as it is designed to address areas for improvement that perhaps companies may have overlooked which makes it very effective when embraced by each operator.
So, what exactly is reviewed, and why do some companies shy away from being evaluated?
• Safety Management Systems (SMS)
• Security
• Organization and Personnel
• Training and Proficiency
• Flight Operations
• Operations in International and other specialized Airspace
• Equipment Requirements
• Maintenance Requirements
• Company Operations Manual

• Transportation of Dangerous Goods
While the list is long, Mira Vista Aviation embraces these challenges including the opportunity to grow our robust commitment to safety. Since day one, Mira Vista has worked alongside IS-BAO to mold its safety standards. In three short years, the Los Angeles and Santa Ana-based teams have risen to the top of the industry, proving a well-known name is nothing without a proven record. It's important to note that these audits are not required but are an extra choice expense because of the dedication and commitment to excellence in the safety area. Now more than ever before, our highly educated clientele insist on only flying with companies that have independent, third-party safety validations.
The IS-BAO Stage III accompanies Mira Vista Aviation's other significant achievements, including being ARGUS Platinum and WYVERN Wingman rated. Our team has created the trifecta of an award-winning safety culture through hard work and maintenance. The commitment drives this dedication to keep our owners, passengers, and flight crew safe at all times.
